Play houses

 Treating untreated wood

Bear County can offer both untreated as well as green impregnated play houses. If your play house is made from untreated wood, then it's important for you to protect your house against outside influences, like UV rays and rain. You can do so by treating the outside and inside of your playhouse with special moisture resistant wood paint or stain. An additional advantage of this is that your play house will instantly look great too once it's been painted. It's also great fun to work with various different colours or perhaps use some templates of suns, flowers, hearts or a cool pirate print.

Step 1

Treat all the wood sections of the play house (on all sides) with a stain or wood paint before the house is constructed. This ensures you will be able to reach all sections. Please make sure the paint or stain you buy is moisture regulating, UV resistant, elastic and water resistant.

Step 2

Construct the play house and apply a second layer of coloured paint or stain with a high level of UV protection. Follow the instructions provided by your paint or stain supplier.

Treatment of green impregnated wood

If the play house is made from green impregnated wood, then the house is sufficiently protected and will not need to be treated. Of course you always have the option of painting it in some .

Play equipment

The timber play equipment and Jungle Gym equipment have been made using impregnated pine or fir. Impregnated wood is well protected against weather influences, mould and insects, which means painting is not necessary. However, do consider the fact that impregnated wood will age during the course of time. We would recommend treating the wood with special wood paint or stain if you would like to be one step ahead of this potential problem.
